Dr. Charles W. Laird

Dr. Charles Laird is the visionary in founding Sanctuary Christian Ministries with his wife Jeanette in 2001.  With 14 years of traditional pastoral rural and city ministries - redeveloping churches and community outreach projects, he realized there are systemic problems that hinder lay people from truly being ministers.  Through stories from formerly churched (alongside research) he is passionate about helping the new emerging scattered church become relevant and credible through innovation and reformation, mostly fostering practical, effective practice of Christian love in a world skeptical of the church.  Though he has received church growth awards and revitalized churches – this ministry is the one he feels brings more fruit than anything he has done before.  Chuck also provides pastoral ministry training, founding Wedding Ministers, Inc., a ministry-based marketing and business development firm and leading provider of wedding officiant internet advertising and services through weddingministers.com.

Rev. Dwight Nave
Board Member

Rev. Dwight Nave brings a unique combination of leadership, immense creativity, administrative skills, a network in and outside the church, and a driving passion to Sanctuary and PAL training - to be in churches as well as individuals. Dwight has a life long passion for ministry including dynamic student ministries and pastoring growing churches in Monterey, California and Richmond, Virginia with a real compassion and care for his people, and serving the Presbyterian Church USA on numerous committees. The common theme:  all is done with heart and practical outreach to/for the community.  On the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity, he puts in time building homes, and helping low income families qualify for them.  Dwight has a keen mind and wisdom he daily puts to connecting the gospel to touch normal people in a meaningful way.

Mrs. Vicki Horne
Board Member

Mrs. Vicki Horne hurts for the un-churched from her own experience and those she has ministered to.  She has worked with the Lairds for 13 years now, as church secretary and phenomenal small group recovery minister.  Though churched, she has a keen sense of the pulse of outsiders, which this organization can’t ever lose touch with to be truly effective.  Beyond personal financial support, Vicki brings the growing scrip program to Sanctuary to become more financially sound.

Mr. Paul Witzel
Board Member

Mr. Paul Witzel has a long track record of being a businessman with a great developmental record.  He has founded, directed and been CFO for a number of startup companies, pulling together funds of $40 and $75 million.  He knows management, accounting laws and how to put business principles in action.  His breadth of experience ranges from building and working with both private and public companies, to balancing with financial expertise and having a network of Christians in the business world.  Paul also brings a desire for effective home groups through the variety of groups he’s been involved in and a range of church experiences.  Sanctuary needs to keep that balance between being professionalism and remembering what this organization is all about.

Mr. Sam Windsheimer
Board Member

Mr. Sam Windsheimer has just joined the board, bringing a passion, willingness to help start Sanctuary in another state - the first person to do so.

He and Grace, wife of over 35 years have a broad church experience as lay people willing to teach, lead and direct groups, and live out their faith.  Like our target of disenfranchised and disillusioned with where church is going, they are willing to pioneer with Sanctuary in reaching so many people just like him.  He will help us keep focused – and in touch.
